According to a report from Statistics Canada, Saskatchewan had 592,900 jobs in June. That represents an all-time record for the province.
There were 9,200 more jobs in Saskatchewan compared to June 2018, a 1.6 percent increase. It was the 11th consecutive month of year-over-year job increases.
There were also 2,500 more jobs in June compared to May of this year, representing a 0.4 per cent increase.
Saskatchewan’s unemployment fell to 5.1 per cent in June, down from 6.2 per cent in 2018.
Employment figures were seasonally adjusted.
Saskatchewan had the third-lowest unemployment rate in the nation. The national unemployment rate rose to 5.5 per cent last month.
“With eleven straight months of climbing job numbers, we are seeing very positive trends that supports a growing Saskatchewan economy,” Immigration and Career Training Minister Jeremy Harrison said in a press release. “Even though our province’s economy is facing significant external headwinds, job creators continue to have confidence in the fundamentals of our diversified economy.”
