UPDATE: Glen Bell, 80, has been located and was found deceased at approximately 12 p.m. on June 28. The search effort has been concluded.

The search continues for resident Glen (Archie) Bell, 80, who was reported missing around 11:30 a.m. on June 26.

Bell – who responds solely to the name Archie – is approximately 5’6”, has grey hair, stutters due to Parkinson’s disease and suffers from dementia. He was last seen wearing a light-coloured shirt, red plaid jacket, and grey sweatpants. He is also accompanied by his small black dachshund, Alfi, who is likely still with him.

If you are part of the search effort, you should attempt to communicate to him solely by the name Archie.

Bell suffers from dementia so he likely won’t follow a predictable route and could be located anywhere in the city.

Several witnesses claim to have spotted him at a number of random locations on June 26 ranging from the site of the old Union Hospital near the intersection of Fourth Avenue East and Fairford Street East, the dog park near the Yara Centre, the area around the Moose Jaw Refinery, Bugsy’s at the Town ‘N’ Country Mall, the former Bun and Bottle (now HI Kick Gas) on Athabasca Street East, and at the Memorial Field ball diamonds.

It should be noted that none of these sightings have been confirmed and the person in question may or may not have been Bell.

An organized search team of approximately 130 volunteers including military personnel, police officers, and members of the public gathered at the Town ‘N’ Country Mall at 10:30 this morning and began a systematic search of the city shortly after 11 a.m.

Led by the Moose Jaw Police Service (MJPS) and Moose Jaw Search and Rescue (SAR), the group was divided into six teams of 20 individuals who are currently spread out around the city in search of Bell. The search also appears to be drawing a sizable response from the community as observed through social media commentary and word of mouth.

If you wish to assist in the search, you can stop by the SAR command bus at the south side of the Town ‘N’ Country Mall for advice on how to help or speak to one of the SAR team leaders who will be wearing high visibility vests.

All residents are asked to check their CCTV camera footage, doorbell cameras, and dashcam footage from the past 24 hours for possible information that could lead to Bell’s discovery. As well, residents are asked to keep an eye out as Bell is likely to appear in almost any location.

If you spot Bell or have any information about his whereabouts, contact the Moose Jaw Police Service immediately at 306-694-7600. If Bell has been found, it’s advisable to call 911 as he may require immediate medical attention and close observation.
