Second household hazardous waste day set for Aug. 26 at city yards

From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on that day, residents are invited to safely dispose of unwanted chemicals and other hazardous materials from their households, free of charge, at the city complex at 1010 High Street West.

The City of Moose Jaw is reminding residents that the second and final household hazardous waste (HHW) collection day of 2023 is Saturday, Aug. 26. 

From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on that day, residents are invited to safely dispose of unwanted chemicals and other hazardous materials from their households, free of charge, at the city complex at 1010 High Street West.  

Materials that are accepted include:  

  • Aerosol cans (Hair spray, deodorant, household cleaners etc.)  
  • Liquid household cleaners 
  • Batteries (Lithium ion, alkaline, rechargeable, etc.)  
  • Light bulbs (Fluorescent, LED, metal halide, etc.) 

The City of Moose Jaw reminds residents that they can dispose of oil, oil filters, oil containers and antifreeze free of charge at the city landfill during regular hours of operation. Additionally, unwanted paint and electronics may be taken to SARCAN for recycling.
