Streaming for STARS benefit concert to feature star-studded line-up

Dozens of country music stars to be joined by we-known personalities and host of others during fundraising event on May 8
With the growing success of online concerts during the COVID-19 pandemic, the STARS emergency air ambulance service is looking to get in on the action and do a bit of fundraising in the process.

STARS — the Shock Trauma Air Rescue Service — is hosting an evening of music, story sharing and offering Canadians from across the country a chance to come together as a community with the Streaming for STARS benefit concert on Friday, May 8 at 7 p.m.

And when they say an evening of music, they’re talking some of the hottest Canadian country music acts on the planet right now, including Brett Kissel, George Canyon, Meghan Patrick, Aaron Pritchett, Gord Bamford, Hunter Brothers, The Washboard Union, Jess Moskaluke, Aaron Goodvin, Carolyn Dawn Johnson, Chris Buck Band, Bobby Wills, Dan Davidson, Tenille Arts, Rob Watts, and Trevor Panczak.

The sports world will also be well represented, with Hockey Night in Canada host Ron MacLean, Olympic snowboarding medalist Mark McMorris, Saskatchewan Roughriders lineman Dan Clark, Winnipeg Jets defenceman Josh Morrisey, as well as Sons of Anarchy actor Kim Coates, just to name a few.

The show will also feature the incredible stories of survival from some of STARS’ VIPs, or Very Important Patients.

The concert came into being due to the hundreds of STARS fundraising events being postponed or cancelled due to the COVID-19 outbreak. That left a hole in their ability to bring in funds through the spring and summer, even though STARS continues to fly and transport patients — an average of eight a day across the prairies.

There are several ways to help:

Online: Go to support.stars.ca and Click on Make a Gift in the right-hand column

Over the phone: Call 1-855-516-4848. Lines will be open for the duration of the concert.

The livestream will begin at 7 p.m. MT on Friday, May 8 and will be available at support.stars.ca, through the STARS Air Ambulance Facebook page, or on radio through any of the Jim Pattinson Broadcast Group stations.
