After tying their first two contests against the Weyburn Gold Wings at the beginning of the month and seeing their games against Balcarres last week cancelled, the Mavericks were finally able to return to the ice this past weekend.
And they couldn’t have asked for a better turn of events, taking 6-2 and 5-2 wins over the Parkland Fire.
The 15U AA Mavericks saw a bit of the good and a bit of the bad in their two contests, winning 8-3 over Weyburn on Friday before losing their first game of the season 5-4 in the rematch.
The U13 Mavericks improved to 2-0-2 and sit sixth in the South standings, the U15 Mavericks are now 3-1-1 and second in the South division.

Callie Bell was in goal for the victory.

Jewel Schwindt would make it 4-0 midway through the second, and after Parkland got a pair back halfway through the third, Chesney would cap scoring for the Mavericks with 6:23 to play.
