The grand opening of a new Light of the Prairies group home in Saskatoon took place today, where residential supports for four Valley View residents will now be provided.
About $500,000 in annual funding from the provincial government has been provided to the new centre, which is one of nine group homes and other projects that Light of the Prairies runs through Social Services.
The opening of this new group home, and several others in the last year, is part of the Saskatchewan Disability Strategy initiative.
Six residents moved to a Christian Horizons group home in Regina in April, and Valley View says that the remainder of the residents will be relocated by the end of this year.
