As the shortened Western Hockey League (WHL) season comes to a conclusion, Jagger Firkus of the Moose Jaw Warriors has received some well-earned recognition.

Earlier today, Firkus was named to the WHL’s East Division Team of the Week for the period ending April 25.

In four games last week, the 16-year-old rookie forward scored one goal and had five assists for six points. Firkus has tallied five goals and 13 points in 22 games this year.

The other players named to the team include forwards Lynden McCallum and Ben McCartney of the Brandon Wheat Kings, defenceman Braden Schneider of Brandon and Mike Ladyman of the Winnipeg ICE, along with goaltender Roddy Ross of the Regina Pats.

The Warriors will play their last game of the season tonight against the Saskatoon Blades. Game time is 8 p.m.
