The Western Hockey League taketh, the Western Hockey League giveth away.

The WHL announced Monday that the regular season contest between the Moose Jaw Warriors and Medicine Hat Tigers originally scheduled for Sunday, Mar. 20 had been moved to Saturday, Feb. 5, meaning the Warriors will once again have a pair of weekend games.

The Warriors were originally slated to travel to Brandon to face the Wheat Kings on Saturday, but that contest was rescheduled due to Manitoba government restrictions allowing fewer than 250 fans to attend sporting events in the province.

The game between Moose Jaw and Brandon was postponed late last week and will be made up at a later date.

The Wheat Kings and Winnipeg Ice did receive some good news on Wednesday afternoon.

Manitoba announced that some restrictions will be relaxed as of Tuesday, Feb. 8, with up to half-capacity now allowed at arenas in the province.

As a result, the Ice will be able to host 1,000 fans at Wayne Fleming Arena, the Wheat Kings around 2,500 at the Keystone Centre.

Brandon last played at home in a 3-2 win over Edmonton on Dec. 30; they’ve since played seven straight games on the road. Winnipeg was last at home in a 4-2 win over the Regina Pats, they’ve played only five games on the road through the entire month of January.

The Warriors are back in action Friday when they travel to Swift Current to face the Broncos.

Next home action is Wednesday, Feb. 9 against the Lethbridge Hurricanes.
