You may recognize the name Wilson Farms as the premium goat yoga supplier in the Moose Jaw area, but Shannon Wilson has more than just mischievous farm animals to check out on her property on  Aug. 11.

In partnership with the South Central Early Childhood Intervention Program (ECIP), Wilson Farms has put together their first-ever Craft and Trade Show out at their property near Caronport.

The day will feature vendors with a variety of wares, from Sunset Gourmet to toys to homemade bath products, as well as some other fun activities to check out.

Much like their grand opening, Wilson will have the tractor rides out and zooming around — a train of repurposed rain barrels linked together and pulled behind a garden tractor.

Wilson also hinted at the possibility of a scavenger hunt for the whole family to take part in, and a petting zoo of cute farm animals to meet — and there’s a few out at the farm, including goats, cows, horses, ducks, and alpacas. The ECIP is also planning on running a concession for the day, with hot dogs and drinks to fuel the fun.

Admission is $5 per person or $15 per family of four, with ages 2 and under free, and all of the funds will return to both Wilson Farms and the South Central ECIP to help continue their programs in the Moose Jaw area.

Supporting the ECIP is an important cause to Wilson, who works as an interventionist there and supports the work they do for children with developmental delays.

Offering support programs is actually something Wilson is stepping into herself, with her Just Kidding Around program that she runs in partnership with Moose Jaw Families for Change.

Twice a month, Wilson brings some of her animals in to visit with members of the Families for Change programming, as a therapeutic tool.

“Animals can be very therapeutic, and [interaction] just enhances the lives of everybody, but especially people who may be experiencing delays, or trauma or grief, anything like that,” said Wilson.

Nancy Rosnes, executive director at the South Central ECIP, is excited to take part in the collaboration.

“I think it will be a great day, we've got lots planned,” said Rosnes. “It's just going to be a fun afternoon for families to come on out with their little ones, and spend a day out in the fresh air, out in the country.”

Wilson Farms is located 10 miles west of Moose Jaw, near Caronport on Range Road 283. Wilson will have signs out to direct people to the property, which is across the road from Thunder Creek Gardens.
