You will find lots of fun activities in and around Moose Jaw and area this weekend. The following list highlights some events you won’t want to miss out on.
Cosmo Craft and Trade Fair
Stop by the Cosmo Senior Citizens Centre on Saturday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. for the Craft and Trade Fair. There will be plenty of vendors on site selling a wide variety of items. Admission is free. Lunch will be available.
Central Lutheran Free Trade Festival
Central Lutheran Church will host the final day of its Free Trade Festival on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the church hall. Merchandise will be provided by Ten Thousand Villages. Proceeds will go to the Moose Jaw & District Food Bank.
Used Jigsaw Puzzle Sale
Looking for something to do over the cold winter months? Stop by the Moose Jaw Public Library from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday for the Friends of the Library’s used jigsaw puzzle sale. In addition to puzzles, there will also be hand-knitted items from the Avid Knitter’s Group, along with used computer equipment. Donations of complete puzzles will be generously accepted.
Repair Café
Broke something but don’t want to throw it out just yet? You might not have to! The Wandering Market will host a Repair Café on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Volunteers will be on hand to help you fix any items you bring in. The event is presented by the Saskatchewan Waste Reduction Council.
Whistlestop Craft Sale
Stop by for day two of one of Moose Jaw’s largest craft sales. The Whistlestop Christmas Craft Sale will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday at the Moose Jaw Exhibition Convention Centre. Admission is just $5 and there will be hourly door prize draws.
Volunteer Fair
Looking to volunteer but don’t how to get started or which organization to work with? Stop by the Western Development Museum on Saturday between 1 and 4 p.m. The WDM, in conjunction with the Canadian Council on Rehabilitation and Work and Moose Jaw Families for Change, will host a Volunteer Fair. It will be a great opportunity to connect local service clubs and non-profit organizations with volunteers. Don’t miss out!
Stained Glass Tours
Zion United Church is home to many beautiful stained glass windows, and you will have an opportunity to see them this Saturday. Zion will host stained glass tours at 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. There is no charge to attend and no need to register ahead of time. Meet inside the front doors approximately 10 minutes before the tour starts. Hot chocolate and cookies will be offered at the end of the tour.
Film Screening at MJPL
The Moose Jaw Public Library will show the film, A House with a Clock on its Walls, on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in the library theatre. There is no charge to attend. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Halloween Dance
Alliance Church will host a Halloween Family Dance from 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday. There will also be a family-friendly haunted house. The cost is $20/family. Tickets will be available at the door. Prizes will be awarded. Please note all children must be accompanied by an adult. This is a latex-free event, so please do not wear latex costumes. There will be a concession available on site.
Haunted Museum
Get into the spirit of Halloween at the Sukanen Ship Pioneer Village & Museum on Saturday. Haunted musem tours will start at 7 p.m. and the gates will close at 9. Tours will leave every five to six minutes. Get ready for all new scares! The tour is not recommended for kids under eight. A limited concession will be available. Admission is $10, cash only.
Reuben and the Dark
Get out and enjoy some live music this weekend. Reuben and the Dark will play at the Mae Wilson Theatre on Saturday at 7:30 p.m., along with special guest Hannah Epperson. Tickets are still available and can be purchased from the Moose Jaw Cultural Centre box office. http://www.moosejawculture.ca/
Moose Jaw Pride Halloween Party
Moose Jaw Pride will host a Halloween party at the Rainbow Retro Thrift Shop on Saturday. The party starts at 8 p.m. and is intended for guests 19 years of age and older. There will be costume prizes, a bar, dancing, and a DJ. Tickets are just $10 at the door.
Halloween Howler
Rock out at the Park Hotel this Saturday. The Halloween Howler will feature performances from Johnny 2 Finger and the Deformities, The Lunatic Touch, and Drake Mark. The show stars at 10 p.m. There is no cover charge.
Kids Helping Kids Dance-a-Thon
Once again, Dance Images by BJ will host their Kids Helping Kids Dance-a-Thon. The event will run all day Sunday. Proceeds will support Creative Kids, a Saskatchewan organization that helps kids participate in arts and cultural activities. Feel free to stop by the studio to see what the dancers are working on, or to drop off donations.
Futsal Open House
Want to know more about the game of futsal? Stop by Vanier Collegiate on Sunday from 12 to 7 p.m. for the Futsal Moose Jaw Open House. There will be demonstrations and skills training sessions. The event is free and open to the public. You will even be able to register for the upcoming 2019-20 indoor season.
Films for Friends
Moose Jaw Families for Change will once again offer its popular Films for Friends series this Sunday. You’re invited to a screening of The Nightmare Before Christmas at the Kinsmen Inclusion Centre at 1 p.m. The cost is $5 and includes popcorn. Proceeds will go to the Moose Jaw Humane Society.
Mini Golf at the Legion
Hopefully, your short game is strong. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 59 will host an indoor mini golf tournament on Sunday. The entire building will be used for the nine-hole course. The action will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. The cost is $5 per person.
