First half of Sask Summer Games in the books with Regina leading medal standings

Regina tops through first three days with 52 medals in Lloydminster, Saskatoon close behind with 48 medals as second half set to begin Thursday

MOOSEJAWTODAY.COM -- The province’s two largest cities have enjoyed a medal windfall through the first three days of the 2024 Saskatchewan Summer Games in Lloydminster.

Team Regina leads the way in the medal rankings as the second half of the Games is set to begin Thursday, having won a total of 24 gold, 12 silver and 16 bronze for 52 medals.

Saskatoon is right behind in the medal tally, having picked up 11 gold, 24 silver and 13 bronze for 48 medals, while South West is well back in third with 12 medals, four gold and eight silver

Archery, canoe,kayak, golf, boys soccer, softball, Special Olympics bocce, swimming, tennis, and volleyball took centre stage through the first half of the Games from July 22-24, with athletics, baseball, basketball, beach volleyball, girls soccer and triathlon in the second half.

Regina’s Tayla Perry leads with an opening round of 41 in the female individual tournament, with Ada Dillon from Rivers West right behind at 38 and Sarah Henderson of Saskatoon third at 36.

The men’s individual tournament sees North’s Dade Bernatchez, Prairie Central’s Dane Geisbrecht and Lakeland’s Wyatt Nelson all tied at 54.

The Sask Summer Games competition is using the Stableford scoring system.
