The Moose Jaw Mavericks closed out their regular season tied for second place after taking a 10-1 victory over the Balcarres Barracudas in Saskatchewan Female Hockey League Pee Wee action Tuesday.
As she has been much of the season, forward Brooklyn Nimegeers was all but unstoppable in the contest, scoring six goals and adding two assists as the Mavericks took a 2-0 lead out of the first period and led 5-2 through two. Nimegeers now has 49 goals and 63 points in 10 games this season.
Ashley Breitkreuz, Brooklyn Hrynkiw, Kiana Hrechka and Jesse Mielke had the Mavericks other goals.
Schay Camphaug was in goal and turned aside 13 shots for the win while Moose Jaw fired 35 at Balcarres.
The Mavericks improved to 14-5-2 with the win, tied in points with the Weyburn Angels (15-5-0).
Moose Jaw will next face the Swift Current Ice Cats in the first round of the playoffs, with the schedule for that best-of three series yet to be set.
