Literally.
For the second Sask Female Hockey League game in a row, the Mavericks and Weyburn Gold Wings settled for a tie, this time battling to a 3-3 draw at the Bert Hunt on Saturday afternoon. That result came on the heels of a 2-2 tie in Weyburn on Friday night.
Addison Lamb got the Mavericks on the board with the lone goal of the first period, but Tyra Kmita would tie things two minutes into the second. That set the stage for Jayden Babich to give Moose Jaw control of the contest, scoring a minute and a half after Kmita’s goal and following with her second of the game with 6:54 remaining in the period.
The 3-1 lead would last until just over five minutes were left in the game, when Kmita got the Wings back within one. Izabell Taillon then tied the game 2:04 later to cap scoring in the game.
Callie Bell was in goal for the Warriors, Emily Kirkpatrick played net for Weyburn.
The Mavericks are back in action Friday, Nov. 13 when they host the Balcarres Barracudas. Game time is 7:15 p.m. at the Bert Hunt.
