Every goaltender has a story. A night where for one reason or another they had to play at the very top of their game just to give their team the slightest chance to win.
Moose Jaw Warriors netminder Brodan Salmond has one of those tales to tell after he faced 50 shots – including 21 in the first period alone – and still came away with the victory.
Josh Brook scored 35 seconds into overtime as the Warriors overcame an early 3-1 deficit to take a 4-3 victory over the Hurricanes in Lethbridge on Friday night.
Salmond turned aside 17 shots in the second period and 12 in the final frame to most-definitely earn the win.
Brook and Justin Almeida finished the game with two goals and four points each, Jake Elmer had a goal and two assists for Lethbridge, with Taylor Ross and Calen Addison adding single markers.
Carl Tetachuk turned aside 21 shots in the loss.
The Tribe finished 3-for-3 on the power play, while Medicine Hat was 1-for-5.
The Warriors are back in action Saturday night in Red Deer and Sunday in Calgary.
