Team Canada advances at World Flag Football Championship

Team Canada is through to the quarter-finals at the World Flag Football Championship in Finland.

The men’s competition at the 2024 IFAF Flag Football World Championships has reached the quarterfinal stages in Lahti, Finland.

Canada advanced from the group of 16 stage on Wednesday morning with a 46-38 victory over Israel.

Quarterback Mason Nyhus continued his outstanding play, going 21 for 25 for 217 yards and five touchdown passes.  Mitch Hillis was his favorite target, catching 12 passes for 144 yards and two touchdowns.

Thursday’s quarterfinals are set for 1:30 am Saskatchewan time, and the Canadians will take on Switzerland. The other quarter-finals will feature the United States taking on Italy, Mexico facing France, and Austria meeting Denmark.

The semifinals will be played at 6:30 am and 7:45 am Saskatchewan time for a place in Friday’s Gold Medal Game.
