Warriors defenceman Nolan Jones received a three-game suspension and fellow rearguard Daemon Hunt a two-game hit after a pair of fights broke out after the game between the Warriors and Regina Pats in Regina on Tuesday night.
Regina’s Robbie Holmes received four games and Carter Chorney three for their actions.
The situation came out of Pats goaltender Spencer Welke picking up his first WHL win in the contest and when the Pats went to retrieve the puck for the Prince Albert Mintos call-up, Hunt tossed it into the crowd.
That brought Holmes off the bench to attack Hunt, and Jones ending up in a post-game fight with Chorney.
The end result saw Holmes receive an instigating minor, fighting major and two game misconducts, one for leaving the bench. Hunt, Jones and Chorney all received a fighting major and game misconduct each.
The Warriors were also fined $2,000 for their actions, Regina received a $1,500 fine.
It’s only the second time a member of the Warriors has received supplementary discipline this season, after Brayden Tracey received a two-game suspension for a check-to-the-head major against Swift Current on Nov. 16. Overall, the Warriors are one of the most disciplined teams in the league, sitting sixth for the amount of team penalty minutes with 573. The Pats, on the other hand, are the sixth-most penalized team in the WHL with 772 minutes.
The Warriors return to the ice for their annual Snowbirds night on Friday, with the local squad wearing special jerseys and honouring the 431 Air Demonstration Squadron throughout the night. Game time is 7 p.m. at Mosaic Place.
