FORT GOOD HOPE, N.W.T. — The lone suspect in the stabbings of three people in Fort Good Hope, N.W.T., last week has been charged with one count of murder and two counts of aggravated assault.
Thaddeus McNeely appeared in Territorial Court Monday morning by video from the North Slave Correctional Complex in Yellowknife.
He is charged in connection with the attack last Tuesday that resulted in the death of one person and significant injuries to two others.
The stabbings occurred on McNeely's 24th birthday.
Police said McNeely surrendered and was arrested at a residence in the community of about 500 people on Thursday evening.
McNeely is separately facing charges of assault, uttering threats, mischief, assault causing bodily harm, and failure to comply with an undertaking for two incidents alleged to have occurred in 2021.
Court appearances for those charges were scheduled to take place in Fort Good Hope on Wednesday but have been delayed until October 25.
The victim of the alleged 2021 assault was one of the people injured in last week's stabbing.
