TORONTO — Canadian Misha Cirkunov, ranked No. 14 among light-heavyweight contenders, will face No. 11 Ovince Saint Preux at UFC 235 on March 2 in Las Vegas.
Cirkunov (14-4-0) is coming off a first-round submission win over Patrick Cummings in October in Moncton. The 31-year-old Toronto fighter had lost his two previous bouts — against elite opposition in Glover Teixeira and Volkan (No Time) Oezdemir — after winning his first four UFC fights.
Both Teixeira and Oezdemir have fought for the UFC's 205-pound title and lost.
Saint Preux (22-11-0) has lost two of his last three but is 11-7-0 overall in the UFC. In April 2017, he lost a five-round decision to champion Jon (Bones) Jones at UFC 197.
