Orville Richard Barnstable was born on a farm at Macoun on August 1,1925. He was the third son of Roy and Susan Barnstable (Granger). He grew up on the farm and enjoyed the animals, especially his favourite horse, “King”. He was happy to serve his country in 1944, during his time in the army, and subsequently went to the U of Sask for a year, and then spent a couple of years in Bible School. He moved back to the farm and met the local school teacher, Ethel Janke. They married in 1949 and continued farming. God had other plans for him, and he began a new career in 1955 as a high school teacher at International Bible College near Outram. He moved to Moose Jaw when the College moved there and was the High School Principal until 1966. He took a year off from teaching in 1967 to finish his degree at the U of Regina. Following his graduation the family moved to the Northwest Territories for 3 years and then back to Moose Jaw where he taught at Peacock High School until his retirement. Orville and Ethel continued to live in Moose Jaw until 1993 when they moved to Medicine Hat. He and Ethel lived there until his homegoing on Nov 17, 2024.
