Katherine “Kathy” Dyck of Rockglen, SK passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2021, at the age of 85 years. Mom was born in Blumenhof to parents John and Suzzanna and raised with 8 siblings, Suzie, John, Ben, Joe, George, Mary, Bill, and Anne. They kept busy milking cows, going to school, skating, playing ball (she still had a good arm). Later going to teacher college and marrying Cliff. Together they moved around Sask. from Blumenhof, Tyner, Simmie, Swift Current, Uranium City, Regina to Gravelbourg where they built a farm out of a stubble field. I think there was 9 moves. Everywhere we went Mom kept her faith, making our house a home. Before we knew it we had friends coming for coffee, meals, cards. She would work, take classes, sew our clothes, go to our hockey games, figure skating, swimming, ball, fishing, having us (Robbin, Bevin and Karren) be our best with praises, love and some truth telling. When Mom moved to Moose Jaw she was busy teaching. It was during this time that she was approached by some families in the Christian community to teach their children. This laid the foundation for the Cornerstone Christian School, and Mom was honoured to be their first teacher. Children were her joy, and she enjoyed crafts, her many friends and sewing for the better generation - grandchildren: Jessica, Dustin, Meagan, Samantha, Jesse, Adria, and Danelle. Mom then got itchy feet for some more moves creating more friends, especially dear friend Melissa Jones. A staff member at her lodge in Camrose told me Mom was known to get residents that never came out to come join the party. At this time she also discovered that being a GG to Danaya, Riley, Laine and Grace made life the best. Mom’s faith and love for all will be taking her to Heaven. Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, 1:00 pm, at the Heritage Inn, Moose Jaw, SK. Celebrant was Sam Hawkins. The eulogy was shared by Bevin Dyck. Interment will take place at a later date at the Blumenhof Cemetery. Online condolences can be shared at www.pichehawkinsgrondinfuneralchapels.ca
