It is with sadness the family announce the passing of a beloved father and friend, Albert Gander on December 21st, 2023.

Albert had a big heart and great love for his family and friends. He frequently spent his time out for coffee with friends or family at Rodo’s, as well as at Smitty’s. His favourite dad joke was saying “No thanks, I’m driving” to the waitress when they would come to offer a last refill on his coffee. He also liked to play pool at Dooleys with his father Don. Albert loved all animals particularly dogs. When Brooke, Albert’s daughter was born, he adopted a brother and sister lab/collie mix (Bailey and Askim) who remained beloved members of his family until their passing. Albert had also rescued Chihuahua (Cargo) and an adopted pug (Bob). Cargo didn't like anyone but somehow took a shine to Albert, and they were instant friends.

Albert had a love of candles, particularly party lite, but his favourites were from the local shop The Willow Tree. They always made for an excellent excuse to visit family and friends. Albert loved caring for his vehicles, especially his motorcycles. His favourite bike was his old Shadow Spirit and he always tried to participate in the toy run until he could no longer ride a motorcycle. One of Albert’s favourite weekly activities, when able, was to hand wash and clean his car on the weekend at home. Albert loved to camp and travel before his legs would no longer allow him to. Albert loved classic metal like Metallica, ACDC and Aerosmith but really, he loved anything he could have fun singing along to.

He was a dedicated worker at Deopker Industries until he had to leave due to his illness. Kennedys disease took away many of the things he loved most in life, but he tried his best to keep his head up and not let it break his spirit.

Albert is predeceased by his sister, Donna and brother, Arthur as well as his parents, Don and Marie and their spouses Alice and Stan. He is survived by his daughter, Brooke Gander and his cat, Boots.

Albert will be greatly missed by many friends and his remaining family his daughter; Brooke Gander; ex wife, Janine Baxter; niece, Melissa Dolph and cousin, Angela Nabess.

In keeping with Albert’s wishes there will be no funeral service at this time.

For those wishing memorial donations to the Kennedys Disease association https://kennedysdisease.org/ or the annual Toy Run.
