Arthur Gross, aged 93 years of Moose Jaw and formerly of Bayard, SK passed away on Friday, March 18th, 2022. Our beloved Arthur was born in Moose Jaw on May 22nd, 1928, part of a big family, and received his education at Hapsburg School one mile from his home near Bayard. Arthur was sweet, humble, gentle and patient, and became evermore so as he aged. He was quick with a smile and a laugh and loved his music. He would sing a line, yodel, play the fiddle, guitar and harmonica, and always pitch perfect unless he wanted to fool around. He loved his beautiful, talented wife, Norma, who saved him and gave him the best life. They were married for 69 years and together had 5 smart, hardworking children, 12 grandkids, and 14 great-grandchildren that have big, warm hearts just like his and loved his company. Arthur loved to farm and spend all day in the field, first with his dad and then right beside his wife, son and daughter-in-law. The work could be hard but the rewards were plentiful, each day was what you made it. The spring, summer and fall seemed endless, his prized Masseys, an 1135 and Super 92, made the work all the more fun. Long after he and Norma retired to Moose Jaw in 1984, Arthur would always be out to the farm to lend a hand and teach his grandsons his secrets. In his youth he had travelled with his brothers to BC and the Yukon, and upon retirement, he and Norma had many more adventures across the continent. He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Teresa; and will now be visiting with many of his brothers and sisters that also went before him. Arthur is survived by his siblings: Katie, Ann, Phyllis, Vickie and Donald. He will be lovingly remembered by them and his wife, Norma; sons, Vaughn (Marilyn) and Perry (Sandy); and daughters: Penny (Jerome), Kim (Mark) and Bliss (Denis). As his health began to fail, when asked “how are you doing?” he would say “not too bad”. That was so Arthur, always humble and brave. We know life can be hard sometimes, but with your loving and devoted family it’s never impossible, it’s actually not too bad, not too bad at all.
The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 24th, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home.
