It is with great sadness the family of Gayle Alvina Langer of Riverhurst, Saskatchewan announces her sudden passing on Thursday, September 12th, 2024.  

Gayle was born in Lestock, Saskatchewan on March 2nd, 1941. Her early years were spent in numerous small communities in central Saskatchewan - between Lestock, Lucky Lake, Smiley Spears, Landis, Elrose, Hughton and Forgan.

Gayle graduated grade 12 in Leipzig, SK and went on to Teachers Collage in Saskatoon, SK. Her first teaching job was the kindergarten/grade one class in Aneroid, SK. She then went onto to teach grades 3 and 4 in Riverhurst, where she met and married Robert Langer in 1964. Together they raised their four kids on the family farm: Kevin, Craig, Jaylene, and Lorine. 

Gayle was very community minded. She was always involved with coaching or participating in most sports. She enjoyed baseball, curling, golf, fishing and following her favourite ball team, the Toronto Blue Jays. Gayle also enjoyed card making, playing cards, casino trips, and restaurant excursions. She loved to travel and went on many trips with family and friends.   

She was predeceased by her son, Craig. Gayle is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Chas; son, Kevin (Wendy); daughter-in-law, Wanda; daughters, Jaylene (Allen) and Lorine (Cory); grandchildren: Bo (Eilish), Kolby (Jessica), Shay, Ty, Janae, Davis (Lauren), Mathew, Lane, Alea (Blake), and Blake (Shanelle); and great-grandchildren: Sawyer, Berklea, Navy, and Brynley.

Gayle always made others feel special.  She loved her family and friends fiercely and will be dearly missed by all.  

A Celebration of Gayle’s Life will be held on Monday, September 16th, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Riverhurst Community Hall in Riverhurst, SK. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Gayle’s name may be made to the Allan Blair Cancer Centre c/o Pasqua Hospital, 4101 Dewdney Ave, Regina, SK S4T 7T1.
