Dorothy Emma McDermit was born in Circle, Montana to Herman and Maren Thorsness on Sept 26, 1926. She grew up with her five sisters in southern Saskatchewan. She taught school for several years and while teaching at Curry School she met Bill McDermit. They made their choice to serve God together in 1947. They were married in 1948 and lived on a farm near Ormiston, where they raised their five children. They retired to Moose Jaw in 1978. Together they had an open and very useful home for the friends and workers. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents and her sisters; Florence, Helen, Luella and Norma; as well as her husband Bill in 2001 and grandson Austin in 2019. Dorothy is lovingly remembered by her children: Sharon (Bart) Brown, Sandra, Gordon (Karen), Garry (Cheryl) and Don (Melissa). She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren Sarah, Eric, Laura (Tyler); Jeryd, Leanne (Talan), Heather (Brett), Shelli (Mike), Heidi (Jason), Shauna (Trent), Ryan (Heather); Shari, Kylie and Annika. She loved and enjoyed her great grandchildren Brianna, Aiden, Hunter, Payton, Levi, Kallie, Ava, Emma, Kate and Janaya. She is survived by one remaining sister Grace Dawson. Dorothy loved having the Sunday morning fellowship meeting in her home for many years. She loved her home and was happy to share it right up until her passing. She had many special friends and made a great effort to keep in contact with friends and family near and far.
