Its with heavy hearts the family announces the passing of Ann Perras. She passed away peacefully on August 24, 2024, at the age of 89, at Pioneer Lodge in Moose Jaw.

Ann was born on the family farm near Lady Lake, SK. on February 4, 1935, to Onufrey and Veronica (Soyko) Leason, the sixth of eight children. Her early childhood was spent on the homestead, with Sunny Brae school being a two mile walk across the prairie. The farmhouse was moved to the town of Preeceville in 1950 and she continued her schooling there graduating in 1953.

Ann then followed her older sister Mary and became a nurse. She graduated from the Saskatchewan Training School, Moose Jaw in 1956 as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse. She then chose a career caring for society’s most vulnerable people. She was employed at Valley View Centre, where she spent 36 years loving and nurturing her ‘kids’, intellectually challenged young women.

She met her ‘Hercules’ at Valley View and they were married in Montmartre Saskatchewan on Sept 4, 1956. They enjoyed life in Moose Jaw, attending a variety of sporting events and eventually building their dream house on Calypso Drive. Their home was striking, a show case of antiques and collectibles. Herc and Ann also purchased a rustic cabin on Buffalo Pound Lake and enjoyed many peaceful weekends. Siamese cats Misty and Scooter were a much-loved part of the family, and she spoke of them fondly for the rest of her life.

Herc passed away in 1995 after a long illness, during which Ann hardly left his side.

Ann had many interests, she spent many hours in her yard and loved feeding squirrels. She acquired an amazing collection of American Girl dolls, commemorative plates and tea sets. Many weekends were spent on road trips with girlfriends attending doll shows. Ann’s dream was to open a tea house with her dolls on display.

Ann met a new life partner John Kuc at a dance. They shared a love of dance and music. John was a very supportive partner and care giver especially after Ann suffered a stroke. Under her direction he constructed numerous impressive displays and dioramas for her doll collection.

John passed away in 2019.

Ann lived alone for a number of years with her friends Brock and Elaine providing support and companionship. Further health issues meant a move to Pioneer Lodge in Moose Jaw where she received compassionate care till her final days.

Ann was predeceased by her parents, Onufrey and Veronica; husband, Herc (Hercule), partner John Kuc); brothers, Mike, John, Nick, Fred, and Billy; sisters Mary and Irene, nieces Betty, Karen and Patty, nephews Gerald and Glen.

She is lovingly remembered by sisters-in-law Helen Leason and Anne Leason; her nieces Gladys, Sherry, Marlene, Barb, Holly, Lorri, Sue and Carol; and nephews Harold, Wayne, Allan and Brad and by her dearest friends Brock and Elaine.
