It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Francis Riley on Sunday, June 23rd, 2024, at the age of 44 years, a beloved father, brother, uncle, and son. Born on December 9th, 1979, in Moose Jaw, SK, James lived a life full of love, laughter, and adventure, touching the lives of all who knew him.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, Francis and Anna Fay, and James Riley. James will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Christel and Kaylee; stepdaughter, Chasity (Chelsey); mother, Jean Fay (Ken Cox); father, Darrel Riley; sister, Jeannette (Jaymie) Blackmore; nephew, Taylor (Mckenna); niece, Emily (Arden); brother, Ryan Cox (Brandey); brother, Darrel Riley Jr.; grandmother, Mary Riley; special friend, Kayla (Jordan and Xander); and by the rest of his family.
Growing up, James was a gifted athlete in all sports he participated in, whether it was football, hockey, track and field, or baseball. After high school, he moved up to Saskatoon, SK to play football with the Hilltops before returning home to play hockey with the Assiniboia Rebels. Once he became a father, James spent countless hours sharing his knowledge with his daughters, teaching them how to skate, play softball, to swim, and ride their bikes.
James found great joy in his boat and camping at Buffalo Pound Lake every summer. He spent countless hours on the water, tubing, wakeboarding, or wake surfing. The lake was the backdrop for many treasured family memories.
James was a devoted father to his two cherished daughters, Christel and Kaylee, and stepdaughter Chasity. He was a pillar of strength and a source of endless love and support to his family, always putting their happiness and well-being above all else.
The family invites friends and loved ones to join them at a Celebration of James’ Life on Tuesday, July 2nd, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home.
Though James may have left this world, his spirit will forever remain on the waters of Buffalo Pound Lake, in the laughter of his daughters, and in the hearts of all who loved him.
Donations may be made in honour of James to the Canadian Mental Health and Addiction Services.
