Rudolf Anthony Valerio, originally of Blantyre, Scotland, and most recently of Calgary, Alberta, peacefully passed away on 13th March 2025. Rudolf is survived by his loving wife Angela, children Aldo, Palma, Roberto and Rudolf, and grandchildren Andrew, Kiara, and Tiffany. Rudolf is now at rest along with his previously deceased and much-loved son Paul and grandson Marco.
Rudolf will be dearly missed and remembered as a genuinely loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather, and as a generous neighbour and member of the community, Knight of Columbus, and parishioner of the Holy Spirit Parish. Rudolf will also be remembered as a highly accomplished and well-respected medical pathologist (graduated from University of Glasgow).
Rudolf was well known by everyone for his great kindness and intelligence, for his sincere appreciation of life and people, his passion for Italian food, his enthusiasm for his many hobbies (lepidoptery, gardening, fishing, hunting) and the immense pleasure he took from spending time with family and friends.
All of us who knew Rudolf will be forever indebted to him in appreciation of the truly outstanding man he was.
A small private funeral, for immediate family only, will be held on 10th April 2025 at Eden Brook Funeral Home in Calgary.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Aspira Britannia (seniors’ residence) and South Health Campus (hospital). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rudolf’s name to the Calgary Health Foundation at South Health Campus. If flowers are preferred to be given, then these may be sent to Eden Brook Funeral Home.
