BERNADETTE MARIE TREMBLAY
November 7, 1927 – February 13, 2021
Dear friends and family, a few words to let you know Bernadette (Mom) passed away peacefully Saturday evening on February 13, 2021 at the age of 93. Bernadette was born, raised and educated in Gravelbourg. She was born in a family of 12 children. She met the love of her life in 1947, our Dad, Lionel, and within months they were engaged and married on February, 4, 1948. She left a main street residence in Gravelbourg with all the conveniences and amenities to a life in an apartment in her in-law’s house with no power, telephone, or water. Lionel and Bernadette started a family which consisted of 2 boys and 3 girls. In the fall of October 1953, Bernadette was struck with polio while pregnant with her 3rd child making it difficult at this time. Her determination and her faith in the Lord’s help were obvious factors in the favorable outcome. This was the start of their successful farming career in the Courval area until their retirement in 2002. Bernadette and Lionel retired in Moose Jaw and resided at Rosewood Apartments. 7 years after Lionel’s passing, Bernadette moved to The Bentley and eventually Chez Nous where she passed away. Over the years, Bernadette enjoyed babysitting, card playing, needlepoint, sewing, casino, garage and auction sales. Predeceased by her husband, Lionel in 2009; her granddaughter, Chantelle; her parents, Aime & Delphine Bourgeois; and her 10 siblings. Bernadette leaves to mourn her loving family: Leo (Peggy), Remi (Alex), Justin (Joanne), Trina (Greg); Denise, Nathan (Cara); Paulette (Ross), Jason (Amy), Jody (Marty); Marc, Amee, Monique; Jackie (Bruce), Jill (Chris), Byron (Kendra), Craig (Rebeca). Bernadette has 27 great grandchildren and 1 surviving brother, Raymond. Special thanks to the Chez Nous staff for making Bernadette’s last years enjoyable and comfortable. A private celebration of Bernadette’s life will be held Saturday, Feb. 20, 2021, at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Moose Jaw. Bernadette will be laid to rest beside her husband Lionel at Courval Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Chez Nous, https://home4good.ca/donate/ or Salvation Army, 2 Wintergreen Dr, Moose Jaw, SK S6J 1M9.
