Eighth end: China looks to shake hands after throwing one rock, but teams have to play eight ends due to TSN broadcast, so we know this is over after this end. Teams just exchanging hits as crowd claps along with each shot. Jacobs throws final rock to standing ovation, draws into house. Canada wins bronze!

Seventh end: Skips stones, Canada sitting one on button, China in front of that rock in four foot. Xu taps back own stone to bite button, Canada still shot rock, China second and third. Jacobs throws big weight takeout and clears everything, shooter sits full front eight foot. Jacobs hits and rolls out for blank. One more end to go.

Sixth end:  Canada laying shot in four foot at skips stones, China has one back 12 foot. Jacobs makes takeout on China stone. Xu draws to top four foot. Jacobs hits and rolls to full 12 foot at side of house. Xu makes takeout but sticks, China takes one.

Fifth end: Canada laying two full four foot and top eight foot, with China stone top 12 foot at skips stones. Jacobs taps in off own rock at side 12 foot to lay three. Xu tries angle double but only gets rock in 12 foot and rolls to side eight foot. Jacobs takes that rock out and rolls to sit top four foot behind cover. Canada lays three. Xu has draw to button for one and comes up light. Canada steals two.

Fourth end: Skips stones, Canada sits three lined up in house: back button, top four foot and full eight foot. Xu taps back Canada rock in top four foot and rolls in to sit third shot. Jacobs makes touch take out on that stone to sit three. Xu tries angle hit to get rid of Canada stones but rolls through house. Jacobs has touch hit for five (!) and makes it.

Third end: Kennedy attempts double on two China rocks in four foot with final shot, gets one, other rolls to sit shot full four foot behind Canada stone top four foot. Fei takes out Canada stone in eight foot and rolls out. Jacobs tries double raise tapback to move China stone out of four foot but doesn’t curl enough, leaving Canada second shot top four foot in front of China shot rock. Xu makes takeout on Canada rock in four foot to sit second shot full top eight foot, but leaving Jacobs a double. Jacobs makes to lay four all around house. Xu draws to button for one.

Second end: Clean end throughout. Jacobs takes out China stone in four foot. Xu draws back eight foot with first shot. Jacobs hits and sticks in eight foot. Xu hits and peels out for blank.

First end: Gallant makes nice double on two China stones in four foot and rolls behind cover. End progresses, Canada sitting one back side 12 foot under cover. Xu makes takeout and rolls out. Jacobs takes look at split off Canada guard in front and decides to go for it. Perfect shot, guard rolls into side 12 foot, shot stone top 12 foot under cover. Xu goes for takeout on open rock in 12 but flashes. Jacobs draws into house for three.

It’s championship Sunday at the BKT World Men’s Curling Championship in Moose Jaw, and first up is the bronze medal game between Canada’s Brad Jacobs and China’s Xiaoming Xi.

Canada features Jacobs, third Marc Kennedy, second Brett Gallant and lead Ben Hebert

China takes the ice with Xu, third Queuing Fei. second Zhiyu Wang and lead Zhichao Li.

Canada took an 8-2 victory in their round robin meeting and finished with an 11-1 record, while China was 8-4. 

Canada lost their semifinal 7-4 to Scotland’s Bruce Mouat, China fell 7-3 to Switzerland’s Yannick Schwaller.

Scotland and Switzerland play for gold at 3 p.m.
