MOOSE JAW — The 108th annual session of the Grand Chapter of Saskatchewan, Order of the Eastern Star (OES) will be held at the Moose Jaw Exhibition Convention Centre in Moose Jaw, April 24-26 with Worthy Grand Matron Lynne Moffatt and Worthy Grand Patron Ray Moffatt, both of Moose Jaw, presiding.
Lynne and Ray Moffatt have chosen Order of the Eastern Star Service Dogs as their charity of choice for 2024-25 and in the last few years, the Order of the Eastern Star has raised over $1.4 million worldwide.
Their year has been about promoting compassion, understanding, respect and integrity. The OES motto is: "In a World Where You Can be Anything, Be Kind" and that we should all strive"To Act Justly, To Love Mercy and to Walk Humbly With Your God" (Micah 6:8).
Those attending this year's grand chapter session will include Eastern Star members from chapters throughout Canada and the United States. Provincially, the Order of the Eastern Star has supported many organizations such as: CHAMPS, Cancer, Canadian National Institute for the Blind, Ronald McDonald House, Heart and Stroke, the Lung Association, Alzheimer's, ALS, diabetes, palliative care and the Saskatchewan Library Association.
The Grand Chapter of Saskatchewan is active in awarding musical scholarships to young musicians, as well as the presentation of ESTARL Scholarships to ministers in training. Each Eastern Star chapter in the province continues to collect used stamps and pop can tops with the proceeds being donated to cancer centres in Regina and Saskatoon.
The Order of the Eastern Star, founded in 1850, is the largest fraternal organization in the world to which both women and men may belong. Worldwide, there are approximately one million members under the umbrella of General Grand Chapter.
