You can summarize the Saskatchewan Roughriders offseason roster moves in a word: consistency.

Vice president of football operations and general manager, Jeremy O’Day was busy ahead of CFL free agency, re-signing all nine of his 2024 all-star players. Additionally, O’Day was able to execute as he had hoped when the market opened.

“We signed everyone we offered a contract to," O'Day said.

The Riders struck deals with two free agents during the negotiation window. Canadian offensive lineman Philippe Gagnon joins Saskatchewan from Montreal and short-yardage quarterback Tommy Stevens comes over from Calgary.

The front office was also busy bolstering his roster outside the negotiation period. Quarterback Jake Maier, acquired from Calgary in a trade before Christmas, was signed to a contract extension in January and Saskatchewan signed former University of Regina Rams defensive back Tevaughn Campbell after he spent six seasons in the NFL.

The Green and White signed national receiver Tommy Nield after Toronto released him. The Roughriders also bolstered their pass rush with the addition of All-CFL defensive lineman Mike Rose along with Grey Cup and Super Bowl champion, pass rusher Shane Ray.

O’Day added All-CFL national free agent, veteran offensive lineman Sean McEwen.

As is the case in professional football, there's a salary cap and you can’t keep everyone. Quarterback Shea Patterson and receiver Jerreth Sterns are off to Winnipeg; Ottawa signed centre Peter Godber and defensive back Amari Hendersonl; and cover man Godfrey Onyeka signed with Calgary; B.C. picked up linebacker Adam Auclair and defensive back Deontai Williams.

In January, the Riders released Canadian receiver Ajou Ajou and offensive lineman Trevor Reid to pursue NFL opportunities.
