DOREEN MAY AITKIN

August 28th, 1941 – September 28th, 2023

Beloved Sister, Aunt, Cousin, Friend

On Thursday, September 28th, 2023, Doreen May Aitkin passed away in Edmonton, AB at the age of 82 years.

Doreen was born in Moose Jaw, SK where she grew up and graduated from Nursing School at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital in 1963.  She worked in Kyle and Saskatoon, SK before moving to Surrey, BC.  Doreen enjoyed living in the BC climate and nursing in an allergist’s office.  In 1996, she moved back home to Moose Jaw to live closer to her mother and family.  In 2001, Doreen moved to Edmonton to be nearer to her siblings, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, Leo and Gertie Aitkin; sister, Margaret Amundrud; as well as her aunts and uncles.  Doreen will be lovingly remembered by her brother, Fred (Dianne) Aitkin of Sherwood Park, AB; nephew, Kevin (Stacey), Dylan and Landon Aitkin; niece, Crystal (Jeff) Bjorndalen, Owen Aitkin, Blake and Daphne Bjorndalen; nephew, Trevor (Julie), Charlie, Annabelle and Bennett Aitkin; brother-in-law, Norman Amundrud of Stony Plain, AB; Jeffrey (Helen) Amundrud, Stephanie (Scott) Kuntz, Brandon (Jess) Amundrud, Kyla (Jeremy) Amundrud; nephew, Bradley Amundrud, Nicole, Justin (Janay) Amundrud; niece, Nancy (Mike) Dalueg, Gregory (Shealynn) and Allyssa Dalueg; 6 great-great-nephews; as well as many special cousins and friends, especially the friends at Virginia Park Apartments.

A Graveside Service to Honour Doreen will be held on Monday, August 19th, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Rosedale Cemetery in Moose Jaw, SK.  A Gathering for family and close friends will follow at the Pasqua Community Hall – Pasqua, SK.
