107 new COVID-19 cases, 130 recoveries

There are 107 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on August 17, 2021. 

The new cases are located in the following zones: Saskatoon (25), North Central (17), Far North West (12), North East (12), Central East (8), Far North East (7), Regina (6), North West (4), South West (3), South East (2), Far North Central (1), and Central West (1).

Nine cases are pending residence information.

More than one-third (39.3 per cent) of new cases are in the 20 to 39 years age category.

According to the provincial government, of the 107 new cases, 82 are in people who are not vaccinated, 10 are partially vaccinated, and 15 are fully vaccinated.

Five previously reported cases with pending residence information were assigned to the North Central (2), North West (1), Central West (1), and Regina (1) zones.

Four Saskatchewan residents tested out-of-province have been added to the case counts in the Saskatoon (3) and South Central (1) zones.

Two cases have been deemed to be a non-SK resident and removed from the Saskatoon (1) and Regina (1) zones.

There are now 51,499 reported cases, including 1,017 active cases.

The seven-day average of new COVID-19 case number is 117 (9.7 new cases per 100,000). 

There are no additional deaths to report today. The provincial total remains at 586.

A total of 12,420 Variants of Concern have been identified by screening in Saskatchewan, reported in the following zones: Regina (4,836), Saskatoon (2,172), South East (1,157), South Central (893), North West (877), North Central (658), Central East (654), South West (417), Far North West (338), Central West (150), Far North East (96), North East (86), and Far North Central (4). There are 82 screened VOCs with residence pending.

An additional 541 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 1,448,368.

There are 79 people in hospital. Sixty-eight people are receiving inpatient care in the following zones: Saskatoon (25), North Central (21), Regina (8), North West (4), South Central (4), Central East (2), South East (2), Central West (1), and South West (1). Eleven people are in intensive care in the following zones: Saskatoon (7), Regina (2), North Central (1), and North West (1). Of the 79 patients, 61 (77 per cent) are not fully vaccinated.

One hundred and thirty more people have recovered, increasing the provincial total to 49,896 recoveries.

There were 1,468 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan. To date, 988,937 COVID-19 tests have been processed.
