158 new COVID-19 cases, 2 deaths reported, 83 recoveries

There are two new deaths to report today. The provincial total is now at 594.

There are 158 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on August 26, 2021. 

The new cases are located in the following zones: North Central (31), Saskatoon (27), North West (17), North East (15), Far North East (14), Regina (11), Central West (8), South East (8), Far North West (6), South West (6), Central East (5), and Far North Central (1).

Nine cases are pending residence information.

Almost two-fifths (36.7 per cent) of new cases are in the 20 to 39 years age category.

According to the provincial government, of the 158 cases, 118 are not vaccinated, 12 are partially vaccinated, and 28 are fully vaccinated.

Fourteen previously reported cases with pending location were assigned to the Far North East (5), North West (4), Saskatoon (2), Regina (2), and North Central (1) zones.

One Saskatchewan resident tested out-of-province was added to the case counts in the North Central zone.

There are now 53,004 reported cases, including 1,602 active cases.

The seven-day average of new COVID-19 case number is 169 (14.0 new cases per 100,000). 

A total of 12,441 Variants of Concern have been identified by screening in Saskatchewan, reported in the following zones: Regina (4,835), Saskatoon (2,184), South East (1,158), South Central (894), North West (883), North Central (665), Central East (654), South West (416), Far North West (338), Central West (150), Far North East (98), North East (86), and Far North Central (4). There are 76 screened VOCs with residence pending.

An additional 2,455 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 1,466,779.

There are 104 people in hospital. Eighty-five people are receiving inpatient care in the following zones: Saskatoon (33), North Central (17), Regina (12), North West (8), South Central (5), North East (4), South West (2), Far North West (2), Central East (1), and Central West (1). Nineteen people are in intensive care in the following zones: Saskatoon (10), North Central (6), Regina (3). Of the 104 patients, 75 (72.1per cent) are not fully vaccinated.

Eighty-three more people have recovered, increasing the provincial total to 50,808 recoveries.

There were 3,271 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan. To date, 1,010,233 COVID-19 tests have been processed.
