JOHNSON

The family of Heather Lynn Johnson of the Craik Health Centre in Saskatchewan, are saddened to announce her passing on Thursday, April 10th, 2025, at the age of 68 years, after a nearly 30-year battle with Multiple Sclerosis.

Heather was born on June 4th, 1956, to parents Robert and Joyce Bruce of Tuxford, SK. She attended elementary school in Tuxford, and Lindale, and then Peacock High School in Moose Jaw, SK. After high school, Heather worked as a Group Activities Aid at Valley View Centre in Moose Jaw until 1979.

Heather met Barry through her sister Holly, and Barry’s brother, Allan while at a gathering at the lake. They would marry in a double wedding along with Holly and Allan on August 19th, 1978. Heather and Barry welcomed their first son, Jeremy in 1980 and their second son, Chad in 1982. Heather stayed home with the boys while Barry worked tirelessly to provide for them. Once the boys were old enough, Heather returned to work in 1993 and was employed at Canaday’s Apparel until she retired in 2005 due to mobility issues brought on by M.S.

Heather will forever be remembered as a diehard Saskatchewan Roughriders fan. She also played slo-pitch, golf, and bowled in her younger days. She often passed the days listening to country music, playing cards, or watching TV.  Days of Our Lives, game shows, curling, or Roughrider football was her lineup of choice.

She was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Joyce Bruce; brother, Alvin; and brother-in-law, John. Heather will be fondly remembered by her husband of 46 years, Barry; children, Jeremy (Crystal) and Chad (Crystal); grandchildren: Daniel, Jocelyn, Alyssa, and Dylan; siblings: Lorraine, David (Donna), Russel (Terry), and twin sister, Holly (Allan); along with Barry’s family: Betty (Robbie), Allan (Holly), Brenda (Art), Jim (Deb), Lloyd (Brenda), Sue (Brad), Rod (Joan), and Ken; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended families - too many to mention.

The family would like to thank the staff at Craik Health Centre for the many years of care and compassion given to Heather. She loved her time there and considered all the staff as family.

A Celebration of Heather’s Life will be held on Saturday, April 26th, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. in the Harvey Room at Moose Jaw Funeral Home. A private family interment will take place in St. Columba Cemetery at Tuxford, SK at a later date. Flowers are gratefully declined.  As an expression of sympathy, donations in Heather’s name may be made to the Moose Jaw Health Foundation for the Craik Health Centre, 55 Diefenbaker Drive, Moose Jaw, SK S6J 0C2 or the M.S Society of Canada, 250 Dundas Street West, Suite 500, Toronto ON, M5T 2Z5. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Gary McDowell, Funeral Director 306-693-4550 www.moosejawfuneralhome.com
