VERNA SARAH SETRUM
1929 – 2025
Verna Sarah Setrum passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 23rd, 2025, at the age of 96 years, one year and 4 months after her husband, Arthur. She was predeceased by her husband, Art; parents, Edgar and Agnes; sisters, Pearl (Lorne) and Marge (Pete); brother, Crawford (Erna); twin sister, Vera; and her great-granddaughter, Chrystal. Verna is survived and will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Garry (Myrna) and Lavern (Carol); daughters, Wendy (Sid) and Donna (Kevin); daughter-in-law, Lynne; grandchildren: Leona, Carmel (Clint), Vanessa (Dan), Britany (Jeff), Jason, Duane (Courtney), Rodney (Amanda), Michelle (Devin), Brandie (Matt), and Shawn (Abbey); and great-grandchildren: Gavin, Mason, Raven, Alexis, Abby, Nathan, David, Blake, Jake, Jaylyn, Johnathan, Samantha, Kaylee, Doc, Nixon, Gaia, Terra, Adelyn, and Brady.
Verna and Art met in Coronach, SK. She was a nurse at the hospital in Coronach and the doctor was invited out to the farm for supper. The Doctor brought his nurse friend along with him, which was Verna.
Verna always loved to play pranks. We recall one time camping at Buffalo Pound Lake when the grandkids were young, and we were camping at a spot near some hedges. She was noticing people walking along side the road. She spotted the water gun and proceeded to shoot it over the hedge onto the people walking. They came around the corner and looked in, upset to see who was shooting water at them. She had handed the weapon to one of the grandkids.
Verna loved travelling with Art and spent many years in Arizona. In the early years in AZ they enjoyed hiking, square dancing, golfing, and getting together with friends for a good game of cards, always ready with the crib board or challenging many to a game of smear. She loved to quilt, do crossword puzzles, paint pictures, and making jewellery.

A Celebration of Verna’s life will be held on Friday, April 11th, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at the Coronach Alliance Church, 211 1st Avenue, Coronach, SK. Pastor George Budd will officiate and a private family interment will follow at the Berg Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Verna’s name may be made to the Coronach Health Centre, Box 540, Coronach, SK S0H 0Z0. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.
