131 new COVID-19 cases, 82 recoveries

The new cases are located in the following zones: Saskatoon (29), Far North East (24), North Central (17), Regina (13), North West (9), South East (8), South Central (6), South West (5), Far North Central (5), Far North West (3), North East (3), and Central East (3), with six cases pending residence information

There are 131 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on August 18, 2021. 

The new cases are located in the following zones: Saskatoon (29), Far North East (24), North Central (17), Regina (13), North West (9), South East (8), South Central (6), South West (5), Far North Central (5), Far North West (3), North East (3), and Central East (3).

Four of the six new cases in the South Central are located in the South Central 2 sub-zone, which includes Moose Jaw and area.

Six cases are pending residence information.

Less than one-half (42.7 per cent) of new cases are in the 20 to 39 years age category.

According to the provincial government, of the 131 new cases, 103 are in people who are not vaccinated, 10 are partially vaccinated, and 18 are fully vaccinated.

Fourteen cases with pending residence information were assigned to the Far North East (5), Far North West (4), North Central (4), and Regina (1) zones.

One Saskatchewan resident has been added to the case counts in the Far North East zone.

One case has been deemed to be a non resident and removed from the North Central zone (1).

There are now 51,630 reported cases, including 1,066 active cases.

The seven-day average of new COVID-19 case number is 122 (10.1 new cases per 100,000). 

There are no additional deaths to report today. The provincial total remains at 586.

A total of 12,421 Variants of Concern have been identified by screening in Saskatchewan, reported in the following zones: Regina (4,835), Saskatoon (2,173), South East (1,158), South Central (894), North West (877), North Central (659), Central East (654), South West (416), Far North West (338), Central West (150), Far North East (96), North East (86), and Far North Central (4). There are 81 screened VOCs with residence pending.

An additional 1,990 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 1,450,358.

There are 82 people in hospital. Sixty-seven people are receiving inpatient care in the following zones: Saskatoon (28), North Central (19), Regina (11), North West (3), South Central (3), Central East (1), Central West (1), and South West (1). Twelve people are in intensive care in the following zones: Saskatoon (8), Regina (3), North Central (3), and North West (1). Of the 82 patients, 63 (77 per cent) are not fully vaccinated.

Eighty-two more people have recovered, increasing the provincial total to 49,978 recoveries.

There were 2,017 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan. To date, 990,954 COVID-19 tests have been processed.
