244 new COVID-19 cases, 66 recoveries

The new cases are located in the following zones: Saskatoon (52), Regina (35), North East (34), North Central (24), Far North East (19), South Central (16), South East (13), North West (11), Far North West (9), Central East (9), Central West (6), South West (3), and Far North Central (1), with 12 cases pending residence information

There are 244 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on August 20, 2021. 

The new cases are located in the following zones: Saskatoon (52), Regina (35), North East (34), North Central (24), Far North East (19), South Central (16), South East (13), North West (11), Far North West (9), Central East (9), Central West (6), South West (3), and Far North Central (1).

Eleven of the 16 new cases in the South Central are located in the South Central 2 sub-zone, which includes Moose Jaw and area.

Twelve cases are pending residence information.

Less than one-half (40.6 per cent) of new cases are in the 20 to 39 years age category.

According to the provincial government, of the 244 new cases, 183 are in people who are not vaccinated, 11 are partially vaccinated, and 50 are fully vaccinated.

One previously reported case with pending residence information was assigned to the North Central zone.

Two Sask. residents tested out-of-province have been added to the case counts in the Saskatoon zone.

Two cases have been deemed to be a non-SK resident and removed from the Far North East zone (1), along with one from the pending residence information category.

There are now 52,065 reported cases, including 1,381 active cases.

The seven-day average of new COVID-19 case number is 146 (12.1 new cases per 100,000). 

There are no additional deaths to report today. The provincial total remains at 586.

A total of 12,426 Variants of Concern have been identified by screening in Saskatchewan, reported in the following zones: Regina (4,834), Saskatoon (2,174), South East (1,158), South Central (894), North West (883), North Central (663), Central East (654), South West (416), Far North West (338), Central West (150), Far North East (96), North East (86), and Far North Central (4). There are 76 screened VOCs with residence pending.

An additional 1,543 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 1,454,742.

There are 84 people in hospital. Sixty-nine people are receiving inpatient care in the following zones: Saskatoon (27), North Central (21), Regina (10), North West (4), South Central (4), North East (2), and South West (1). Fifteen people are in intensive care in the following zones: Saskatoon (9), Regina (3), North Central (2), and North West (1). Of the 84 patients, 61 (73 per cent) are not fully vaccinated.

Sixty-six more people have recovered, increasing the provincial total to 50,098 recoveries.

There were 2,320 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan. To date, 995,362 COVID-19 tests have been processed.
